Lust lies in the eyes
A burning, a yearning
Seeming so deep as to touch the core of your inner soul
But as reality sets in you realize just how shallow it truly is
The feel of you feigning for your object of fake affection
Collides with the feel of what’s real
You see lust is called one of the seven deadly sins;
And in a sense you do die
You give in to what you think is love, to what you think you want
Only to one day open your eyes and see the truth
You fight yourself in a battle you will never win;
Destined to lose before you even begin
Lust is all that we think we need, and all that we shouldn’t want
Like a love affair with someone that turns into nothing but emptiness and regret.
Continuously meeting up with this feeling we can’t seem to resist
We begin to imagine that lust don’t exist
But no matter what façade you may create,
Or what picture you may paint,
The words you say,
Or the things you pretend not to hear,
We all must submit to our fear
That lust is alive and real
So what we may think is love, or sometimes even like
Is nothing but a pool of nothingness
That we must ignite,
Ignite because we must destroy it
Let that feeling sizzle away
Love is present in some instances
But lust,
Don’t ever go away.
